Google is preparing a new chapter with the upcoming “Googlebook” series, which focuses on the AI-first laptop category designed around Gemini Intelligence. The Googlebook laptop will be a successor to Chromebooks, focusing mainly on cloud productivity and lightweight browsing. This new laptop from Google is reportedly being designed as a deeply intelligent computing platform where AI becomes part of every action instead of just another app.
One of the biggest features is the idea of an “AI-native” experience. Instead of opening a chatbot separately, Gemini is expected to work directly inside the operating system itself. From editing images to understanding documents displayed on the screen, the laptop can constantly support users in real-time. Instead of manually selecting menus or opening tools, users may simply hover or wiggle the cursor over content to trigger Gemini-powered actions quickly. Imagine moving your cursor over a long article and receiving an immediate summary, or hovering over an image to receive automatic editing suggestions. It creates a more natural interaction between humans and artificial intelligence.
Google is also planning to merge the strengths of Android and ChromeOS into a modern operating system which has focus on intelligence and smooth connectivity. This may enable Googlebook devices to run Android phone applications natively without the need for complex transfer or syncing processes.

Unlike Google Pixel devices that are manufactured directly by Google, Googlebook hardware is expected to be produced in collaboration with leading PC manufacturers such as Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP, and Lenovo. This indicates that Google wants multiple premium designs instead of a single reference product.
