MediaTek Dimensity 7450 and Dimensity 7450X: One Chip for Power, One Built for Foldable Smartphones

MediaTek has introduced something more strategic 4nm mid-range chipsets, the “MediaTek Dimensity 7450 & MediaTek Dimensity 7450X” in April, 2026, which given faster speeds or better benchmarks. One chipset is designed for mainstream performance lovers, while the other is crafted for the unique requirements of foldable devices. This difference is more significant than it may initially appear.

They are built to redefine performance balance such as gaming, AI, battery efficiency, and display handling finally optimized for real-world use instead of benchmark charts. The Dimensity 7450X is a higher variant of the Dimensity 7450, which is designed specially to support dual-display functionality on flip-style foldable phones. Both the chipset focuses on improving gaming (HyperEngine 3.0), 7% Faster AI, and 200MP camera support.

MediaTek Dimensity 7450: Power for the Everyday Flagship Experience

The MediaTek is designed for users who want strong, reliable performance without spending ultra-premium prices. This chipset is built on 4nm TSMC process, which balances efficiency and speed for mid-range smartphones. At its core, it comes with combination of 4 Cortex-A78 performance cores clocked at 2.6GHz and 4 Cortex-A55 efficiency cores at 2.0GHz, which helps to ensures smooth multitasking, responsive apps, and stable gaming performance. This features helps users to switch between apps, editing photos, or playing graphics-intensive games easily that feels comfortable and consistent.

The Dimensity 7450 comes with Mali-G615 MC2 GPU, which helps to improves gaming, delivering improved frame stability and better thermal efficiency, followed by support for 144Hz displays (FHD+), where users get a visually smooth experience, especially in gaming and scrolling. Speaking about AI, it carries 6th Gen NPU brings about a 7% improvement, which enables smarter camera processing, better voice recognition, and more efficient background tasks.

Talking about camera system, the chipset supports up to a 200MP sensor with the Imagiq 950 ISP, which helps to ensure high-resolution photography with improved image processing.

Speaking about connectivity this chipset carries such as Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4, and 5G speeds up to 3.27Gbps, which designed for those users who rely on fast and stale connections. In simple terms, the Dimensity 7450 is design for those users who want a powerful, smooth smartphone experience without unnecessary complexity.

MediaTek Dimensity 7450X: Built Specifically for the Foldable Smartphone Future

Now we arrive at the interesting part, the MediaTek Dimensity 7450X. Speaking about this chipset, it looks almost identical to the 7450 chipset. The features of this chipset has same CPU, same GPU, and the same AI capabilities like base chipset. However, the true difference lies in what it’s designed to handle.

As we all know, the Dimensity 7450X is designed for foldable and flip smartphones, where managing two displays efficiently is a major problems. Same like traditional phones, foldable phones requires seamless switching between an inner main screen and an outer cover display. Here where, this chipset comes to helps. It features native dual-display optimization, allowing smoother transitions, better power management, and consistent performance across both screens.

There are rumors that, the upcoming devices like the Motorola Razr 70 is going to come this chipset, where users experience depends heavily on how well the chipset handles dual-screen operations. All other features continue to be equally powerful, which support for a 144Hz display, the capability of a 200MP camera system, sophisticated AI processing, but are now customized for an entirely different factor.

Same Power, Different Purpose: What Really Sets Them Apart

At first glance, the MediaTek Dimensity 7450 and 7450X chipsets might look like twins, but in reality, they are different chipset with different focuses.

The Dimensity 7450 is built to provide strong performance for standard smartphones. It’s ideal for users who want speed, efficiency, and a smooth daily experience.

On other hand, the Dimensity 7450X is all about adaptability. It is designed for devices that change shape size, a usage patterns such as foldables smartphones that demand smarter resource management.

This is not just a hardware difference, it also a shift in design philosophy. Rather than offering a universal processor, MediaTek is moving towards specialized chipsets.
